Memory
The CV Residence underwent a process of renovation and expansion based on a careful assessment of its original condition. Although deterioration was advanced and the possibility of demolition was on the agenda, the structural potential and value of the existing materials motivated preservation. With the authorization of the architect responsible for the original project, an in-depth intervention was carried out, aimed at revitalizing the building and adapting it to the new demands of use.
The project was based on two main axes: emphasizing the presence of the house at the entrance to a consolidated condominium in Curitiba and upgrading its internal spaces. Despite having four suites, the original configuration did not fully meet the needs of the residents. A cantilevered front volume was incorporated into the façade to house an office, reading room and TV area, reorganizing the internal distribution and updating the volume.
The materiality favors elements of a natural and durable nature - English bricks, wood and exposed concrete - which dialogue with each other and maintain their expressiveness over time. All the bedrooms have been given large balconies and new connections, favoring circulation and visual integration.
The program was expanded with a social area in the basement, comprising a barbecue, pub, wine cellar and dining area, connected to the outside area by a staircase leading to the rear garden. The transformation, aligned with the history of the house and the satisfaction of the owners, confirms the decision to preserve and revitalize as the best choice for this project, which balances the original architectural essence and contemporary demands for use.
